Damaris Irungu Ochieng

Meet the extraordinary screenwriter, Damaris Irungu Ochieng, who is making creative waves across East and West Africa. Her prolific talent is unquestionable, with 71 television movies produced for the Africa Magic Original Films brand of M-Net, a leading South African pay television channel.  Damaris's notable works include critically acclaimed TV shows such as Pepeta, Crime and Justice, and the thrilling Kiberan Shakespeare. Her writing brilliance earned her the accolade of Best Film Script Writer at the 2021 Kenya Women in Film Awards.

For over 15 years, Damaris has influenced the television landscape as a screenwriter, story developer, and Head Writer. She holds an International Emmy Award for her work on Shujaaz and has contributed her talents to hit shows like Kona (M-Net), Makutano Junction, and Nyumba 10 for various continental broadcasters.

Passionate about sharing knowledge, Damaris served as the creative producer and host of the edutainment show, The Know Zone. She also teaches screenwriting for the Multichoice Talent Factory (East Africa) which serves Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, and Ethiopia.

Damaris continues to push creative horizons with her participation in prestigious programs such as the International Writer's Lab, Berlinale Talent Durban (Berlin International Film Festival) and Realness Institute.
